Iris: Screen Recorder App Reviews

In-App purchase is buggy

I have had the same problem twice since purchasing the app through the in-app purchase. The app displays a banner at the bottom of the video to purchase the app, as if i hadn’t already purchased it. This also breaks the feature to be able to record multiple audio sources (this feature also requires you to install another app which was not made clear in the description). I now completely do not trust this app to function when i need it to function. Last time I had this problem it took over a week for it to be fixed. I don’t know how long it will take this time. I would go with a different app, but I already spend $28 for this one. Yes $28 if you want the app to be fully functional.

Better than IShowu

I been using this software ever since I got a new MacBook Pro. I was always using IShowu, but I always came to some problems with the audio not always matching the video. That’s if the video becomes too long. This one I haven’t had any problems and I been using the free version.

A great app!

Currently does not exist one free app for mac that makes record with quality. But This app DOES and it is free! It records the entire screen, records also my video conferences on Skype. Thanks for the app!

it’s terrible

when you download it a thing comes up saying that you have to pay for it!

Computer Audio

Love the app but for the price I paid, I just wish there could be a esay way to record computer audio staight with in the app. Another app had the feature but the software does not work with OS X Yosemite.

Iris is damaged.

I keep getting the message that Iris is damaged. The App Store instructed me to delete it and install it again. Every time I do that it is damaged. This is when you go into Purchase. I purchased. Sometimes it will start up and work and sometimes it won’t. It is much better than a three star, but I’ll need to wait until initial problems are ironed out.

Question

How do I make it so it records the sound that is on the computer not my microphone

Can’t Record Only Computer Audio

Why can I not record my computer audio without my voice. Please make this a possiblity.

LAG

when recording gameplay, i recorded minecraft. normally i get 90-200 FPS, when this program was on, i got 20-46 FPS.

Audio

The app is well made, but one set back. I want to record a game on the computer, but the audio doesn’t come in. It is silent the entire video and I would appreciate if you cant explain how to record the audio from the game itself.

Don’t sell til ready

Nice interface, quick conversions. but NO internal audio. Nothing on any preference. Really? Why use up our customers’ time when there are tons of apps than can record and pick up the sound while recording.

Great, but please add built in audio-capture

This app is great, but the only flaw that I can see is that you need a seperate application to record computer audio. I have the Sound Siphon app installed, but the sound settings are somewhat confusing and sometimes the audio doesn’t even record. Besides that, everything is good. Great work so far!

Don’t buy it, just ues quick time.

This app is nice, it allows a face camera. Down side too it? At the the bottem of the screen recording, it shows a small ad of the app. You have too pay 20 dollars for it to be removed. At the end of the video, it also show’s the company’s logo. Don’t buy it if your planning to make youtube videos with it. If you don’t mind your viewers with a constant ad at the bottem of th screen. -_-

Crash’s on export!

It’s a nice solution but it crashes every time I export to a .h264 file! Please fix!

ok

A great program! However, it keeps stopping the video randomly when i try to record my ‘let’s draws’. I use a wacom intuos if that helps...

Stable and it Does Record Audio - In Use at Major Prod Companies

This software does what it is supposed to do and does it really well. It does not record all forms of audio so you do need to install a second audio component called Sound Siphon (by same developer) so that the sound source can be targeted and be recorded but its free if you buy IRIS. This is NOT A FLAW in the software. Mavericks and Yosemite changed the way audio is handled within OS X and completely rendered other screen recorder software totally useless. If this recorded “ALL” audio out of the box Apple would not allow it in the App Store due to their agreements with content owners and the licensing terms of DRM protection schemes. Sound Siphon gets around that restriction by being downloaded off the developers website and installed like a third party plugin. If you need to record off the internet or within other apps that do not port sound as an system output this is one of the best and cheapest solutions out there and it offers ProRes so I can grab video and drop right on the timeline in Final Cut or AVID. If you get no sound or garbled audio its most likely your OS or the video playback software that is causing it not IRIS or Sound Siphon. Some software deliberately prevents you from recording the audio as a general obstacle to prevent unauthorized duplication. This App is Free with video Watermarking/Ad Overlay, so you can try it and demo its functions. $25 in app purchase removes the watermarks. Similar software from other companies start at $69 and up…. A big thank you for the option to try before you buy.

Easy, powerful screen recorder

This is a GREAT application and has helped me capture many online things that are not easy (or impossible to otherwise) to download such as web seminars, or tutorials. I have had very little issues, and it has been a flawless experience. I had one issue with understanding audio capture and tech support was great with assisting me with that. You can easily try it with the watermark, and I suspect you’ll quickly realize how powerful and intuitive the program is.

ehhh….

I don’t like this app. It gave me trouble. I tried recording things, but couldn’t find a way to view them. I clicked on the name of the recording when I had finished, tried using the finder to open it up…everything. I even dropped it into iphoto. I could watch it there, but all I saw was a blank, green screen and the audio from the recording. Then I tried to delete the application, but although it said it had deleted, Iris kept running. I tried to shut down. Iris cancelled the command. I forced shut down. When I restarted there Iris was, and my system acted like I had never deleted it. I tried again, and it finally worked. I wouldn’t download if I were you. Like I’ve heard it said before. “At least the price is right…."

This is nice

I am currently using the free version; however, I am planning on getting the full version, This is such a nice app. Way better than screeny.
